Today Kaily took her first real step towards her educational career.

She seemed extremly cool until it came time for her to walk into her new classroom.

Instead of walking in behind me she decided that she wanted to stand outside of the classroom and look at everything that was going on which seemed odd to me considering she is attending the same school that she went to last year.

After a brief pep talk she entered the class and played the shy card until I was forced to leave.

When school was over I was there waiting on her to see how her first day of school went.

I could tell by the way that she was bouncing down the hall way, hair a mess, clothes slightly dirty from playing and a big smile on her face that she enjoyed herself.

She made a few new friends and even remember her new teachers name.

Kaily knows that anything less than an A is unsatisfactory so we shall see how this year goes.

Kaily had just returned home from a much needed vacation away from daddy for a few days.

Upon her return she informed me that the tooth she was having problems with was now ready to be yanked out of her mouth.

I didn’t think that she was going to allow me to go through the entire process but surprised me.

I could tell that she was on pins and needles however she did what she needed to in order to achieve the goal.

After I got her tooth out she got really excited about the thought of the tooth fairy & money however more concerned about the money.

When I heard how excited she got over a lie I had to ask myself if a white lie would hurt?

The answer I believe is pretty obvious, tell her the truth.

I told her that she did a great job but there was no such thing as the tooth fairy.

She then asked me about the money and I told her that parents do this for their children.

Kaily looked a bit puzzled until I told her that I would double the amount that she was going to get.

Since I had already told Kaily the truth about the Tooth Fairy, I decided to drop the bomb on her regarding Santa Clause.

“While we’re at it there is no such thing as Santa Clause,” I blurted out.

She looked at me with a blank stare and then she asked me to repeat myself.

Before I repeated myself I explained to her what the holiday is all about as well as Santa Clause.

I’m not a very big religious person however I do know what is right & wrong about the concept of Santa Clause.

Nothing wrong with giving but brain washing kids is wrong, especially since they’re being brain washed into consumers.

Kaily took a few moments thinking about what I just said and then she asked me where do her presents come from?

I told her that her family gets her gifts which she once again thought about.

She had a few basics questions such as, “who is that in the mall” and “who do parents lie,” but nothing that threw me for a loop.

For the most part I would say that she took the news very well…

Everything was going fine until I received a phone call from her teacher about Kaily arguing in school about there being a Santa Clause.

I knew that it was coming but I hoped that she wouldn’t have, just like when I got her the cell phone.

She will turn on the computer on her own, open MsPaint and go to work creating something that she feels proud enough to show not only me but her grand parents as well.

I plan on using what she has created so far to get her interested in her own website.

Here are a few of the pieces of that Kaily has created:

The belief in Santa Clause to me is a bit idiotic and below I will explain why.

Allow me to start off by saying that Christmas time was something that my mother & father enjoyed to do for their children.

My father used to get a kick out of my sister and I opening our gifts while he recorded every moment.

One year he went as far as to hide all of my toys because I had been bad.

The man recorded over an hour of me crying, pouting, finding toys and finally rejoicing.

During the entire time he is laughing at me with a beer in his hand.

With that said I certainly appreciate what my folks did for me however I couldn’t tell Kaily what is essentially a lie.

Kaily is a much smarter child than I was and she has already picked up skills that it took me an entire lifetime to figure out.

Not only that but she always expects honesty because that is what she is going to give you in return.

Also the fact that kids WORSHIP Santa Clause which is a bit disturbing.

The idea of my daughter worshipping an over weight white guy, with a beard to cover his face, a ski mask and enjoys kids sitting on his lap while taking pictures is a bit nerve wrecking.

I’ve worked too hard to give credit to someone that MIGHT be on Date Line with Chris Hansen.

If you’ve read this far then you probably want to know what she said and how it went down.

That is a story for tomorrow.

This was certainly one of my “proud papa” moments but this isn’t good enough.

I put Kailys bike together to reward her for making progress in school but I have also doubled the amount of work that we do every night.

I can’t rely on a teacher to get the best of my daughter, especially when she has 12 other kids.

I must work with her to ensure that she not only continues on the path that she is on but also leaves the other kids in the dust.

I’m not a very outgoing person, especially towards strangers, and I’ve always taught her to be polite but to be weary of STRANGERS.

I’ve reassured Kailys teacher that she will take a little bit of time to get used to her new classmates and faces but lets be real.

This child has relocated to a completely different time zone, away from her away and friends and is now in a new school.

You can’t expect for all kids to be motor mouths, because they’re all not and really shouldn’t be!

I will continue to work on my C.E.O. being shy and keep you updated.

I’ve certainly neglected my daughters site the past five months which is certainly all my fault.

Since the last time that I wrote about my C.E.O the following has happened in her life:

The death of two grand parents.

A month without her dad around.

A move to a different city which is 12 hours from her friends and family.

Tomorrow Kaily starts the first day of Kindergarden which is something that she has been looking forward to ever since she started Pre-K.

In her eyes she is now a “big girl” that has big girl things to do.

In my eyes this is yet another sign that my baby is no longer a baby but a young lady taking the first step towards becoming a woman.

I know that I have prepared her enough to stay out of trouble, pay attention to the teachers and always represent herself to the best of her ability but in the back of my mind I have to ask myself what more could I have done to prepare her for this day?

Granted this is just kindergarden but I still to this day remember my first day of kindergarden and to be honest it’s not a fond memory.

Luckily for me Kaily is a more much smarter & much more mature child than I was at her age, so I’m sure that she will do well however my baby isn’t a baby anymore!

She’s going to be leaving me behind, walking to class in her new pair of shoes (Jordans, jeez it starts early), a High School Musical back pack and a new outfit, accepting whatever challenges come her way.

A proud moment for a parent but also one that is extremely frighting.

My daughter fell in love with her phone because it gave her the ability to communicate with her family members that are located in different cities.

The more she played with the device the better she got.

She was able to figure out how to use the device and even take pictures.

Her cell phone was by far her best and most used Christmas gift.

Everything was going great until she decided to take her cell phone to school.

Had Kaily had broken the device or ran up a huge bill, got the device water damaged I would have been fine.

She was given one rule when it came to that phone, DON’T TAKE IT TO SCHOOL!

She was doing great but she decided to do what kids do, test the waters of their parents.

Her teachers took and lost the phone at school which wasn’t that big of a deal but the disappointment that I had in my daughter was tremendous.

Granted she’s a kid and kids make mistakes but Kaily knew better, and since she did she had to pay for this mistake.

I gave her the option of getting a spanking or being grounded for an entire week.

She decided to take a weeks worth of no television, computer access or visiting her grandparents (which surprised me).

Hopefully she learned her lesson, only time will tell.

I purchased Kaily an ipod as well as a cell phone, both of which I have caught flack about but I felt that these two electronic devices were needed at this point in her development.

When I was her age cell phones weren’t even out however her generation will grow up with the technology that we take for granted.

Like the desktop that I purchased for her last year I plan on getting her familiar with the technology that she will have no choice but to learn.

The sooner that she is exposed to these technologies the sooner she will be able to learn, adapt and benefit.

That’s the plan anyway, hopefully it doesn’t back fire and create a 2000 minute per month minute talking 4 year old.

P.S. She has unlimited text messages so I’m covered there.
